Let the beauty of Milazzo seduce you. It is an ancient medieval town that develops along a small peninsula extending towards the Aeolian archipelago.
We will start our expert-led private tour from the grandiose Castle of Federico II (the biggest castle in Europe thanks to its 7 hectares), that is the symbol of the city. The old hamlet, which is a peculiarly medieval area, is just outside the walls. It has been the pivotal object of a recent important redevelopment project. The old Spanish area has a really interesting archaeological antiquarium, that shows finds belonging to the ancient Mylai, which was founded by Greeks in the 8th century BC.
Then, we will move towards Capo Milazzo, which has a small rocky sanctuary built for Sant'Antonio di Padova, who found shelter here after a shipwreck in 1221. The natural pool called “Venus’ Pool” is not too far away from this site.
