This is a private guided tour along the south-western coast of Sicily, among archaeological remains and amazing landscapes.
Our cultural tour will begin along the rocky crest of Temple Hill. A series of sanctuaries consecrated to the most important tutelary gods enriched this crest since the late 6th century BC. We will also visit the so-called "Kolymbetra Garden" which, nowadays, is a grove made of orange, lemon, and olive trees that are irrigated traditionally. According to Diodoro Siculo’s description, this area was an amazing artificial lake during the Greek period. It was rich in fish and vegetation, and fed by underground water channels built by the Greek architect Phaeax.
By travelling along the coast towards West Sicily, we will get to the Roman Villa of Durrueli, which has beautiful mosaic floors, and then reach the so-called "Scala dei Turchi" in Realmonte. This is one of the most impressive places of Agrigento's coast due to the unusual white colour of the rocky cliff standing over the blue sea. It looks like a staircase which, according to the legend, was used by Saracens to reach this part of Sicily during the 16th century. It is a wonderful place to take a walk at sunset.
