Kalsa district. Stories, characters and symbols in the core of Palermo

Kalsa district, from the Arabic al Khalisa (the chosen), was the Arabic walled settlement where the emir lived in Palermo during the Arabic period. Over time, the district has undergone several changes that made it rich in history and art and today boasts its own charm. Wandering through its alleyways is like a journey through the centuries.

Our guided walking tour will reveal to you the story of Kalsa, not only through its transformations over time, but above all through the key players and events that marked the history of the district throughout its life. You will be fascinated by ancient stories, historical events and incredible adventures: from the Courts of the Inquisition to the White Knights of Seborga and more.

With this private tour, you will learn the stories of the people who helped to shape this place, from the pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem and the Teutonic Knights, to the noble families and the great artist Giacomo Serpotta, who had his workshop here in the 18th century.
