This private day tour will guide you through the main archaeological sites of Noto by following the valley of the River Tellaro. Like an itinerary through time, you will discover the treasures of the city starting from Prehistory to the Middle Ages.
The initial background to our guided tour is made of the about 200 rock-cut tombs of the necropolis of Castelluccio, which were excavated along the steep sides of Cava della Signora (The Lady’s Canyon) during the Early Bronze Age.
Then, we will go among the vivid colours of the mosaics of the Roman Villa of the River Tellaro, whose structures were part of a vast senatorial latifundium of the middle of the 4th century AD.
The final part of the daily tour will guide you to the site of the old dock of Noto, which was protected by a mighty Aragonese tower. Moreover, the dock also hosts the ruins of a 20th-century tuna fishery.
