Centuripe

Centuripe

This small hamlet is located in the heart of Sicily, 700 meters above sea level, and is perched on the top of a hill, boasting an incredible view of Mount Etna. It is surrounded by wide and fertile valleys that, at the time of the Romans, represented the main source of the economic wealth of the noble families that lived in ancient Centuripae.

To further endorse this, the archaeological museum exhibits a rich collection of artifacts dating back to prehistoric times, the Imperial Roman age and the period of the Greeks

The remains of the historical center of Centuripe, still standing today, testify to the major wealth of the village under the Romans. Above all, you will be impressed by the monumental building dedicated to the worship of the emperor Augusto, known as Augustali and the Castle of Corradino, an imposing tower mausoleum.

Also included in this private guided tour is a visit to a workshop committed to archaeological research where you will understand how the present-day town is still linked to its once flourishing past.
