Cefalù. The Arab-Norman pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea

Cefalù is a precious jewel along the coastline of Palermo. It is located in a particularly charming place at the foot of a rocky promontory. You can still breathe its medieval atmosphere around the narrow streets that run up and down from the sea to the main square on the top of the city. It was shortlisted as one of “the most beautiful villages of Italy”.

We will start our private walking tour from the imposing Arab-Norman Duomo (a Unesco World Heritage Site), which was founded by the Norman King Roger II. It is decorated with the marvellous golden mosaics of Christ Pantocrator (Ruler of All). We'll then proceed with a visit to the Mandralisca Museum, where you will admire the surprising “Portrait of an Unknown Man” by the famous Sicilian painter Antonello da Messina, and the excellent Greek vase representing a tuna fish seller. Last but not least, we'll have a stop at the public Wash House (also known as the medieval Wash House), which is a place where time does not pass.
