San Marco d’Alunzio (ancient Alontion), which is regarded as one of the most beautiful hamlets in Italy, is a clump of houses clung on a hill that renders the place similar to a terrace on the sea. It overlooks a wonderful view that goes from Capo d’Orlando to Cefalù with the Aeolian Islands on the background. It jealously holds priceless valuable treasures such as the 4th-century BC Hercules’ Temple, the remains of a Norman Castle, the baroque façades of churches, medieval alleys, and the Byzantine-Roman Art Museum.
The final destination of this expert-led private tour will be the famous Pottery Museum in the historical Trabia Palace together with the potters’ small shops in Santo Stefano di Camastra, known as “the town of pottery”. This town, indeed, is quite renowned for its fine artisanal pottery production, which is characterised by vivid colours and Baroque-like motifs.
