This cultural day tour retraces a millenary path linked to the history of two of the most exceptional historical signs in the Tyrrhenian coast.
On the one hand, there is the silent Tyndaris, which was founded by Dionysius the Elder in 396 BC. It is rich in marvelous monumental ruins such as a wonderful Greek-Roman theater, domus with mosaic floors and many other monumental buildings.
On the other hand, there is the near Montalbano Elicona, that is one of the 100 most beautiful hamlets in Italy. It was the favourite destination of emperor Federico II of Swabia. Montalbano Elicona is a small medieval treasure suspended between a light blue sky and a colourful landscape.
You should take the chance to walk paths among "cubburi", particular stone buildings with a "tholos" structure used by shepherds as shelters. They were really ancient and part of an agricultural pastoral life.
