On this private day tour, you'll delve deep into the Arab-Norman heritage of Monreale and the ancient ruins of Segesta.
In the morning we will visit the Monreale Duomo, which is one of the most sumptuous examples of the so-called Arab-Norman style, whose itinerary has been recently nominated for recognition as an Unesco World Heritage Site. Built by the Norman king William II, the Church became an important Bishop’s site to balance the religious power of the nearby Palermo Cathedral. The magnificence of the golden mosaics, decorating the inside, will leave us absolutely astonished. We will conclude the visit with a pleasant stroll into the elegant Benedictine monastery cloister of the 12th century, enriched by inlaid columns and sculptured capitals.
Our expert-led tour will proceed by visiting the archaeological park of Segesta located into a fabulous landscape in the middle of sunny vineyards. We will admire the well-preserved Doric temple by Classical age and will climb up to the top of the city, where the Greek-Roman theater still stands, providing you with a stunning view on the Gulf of Castellammare.
