The Eurialo Castle was built by Dionysius the Elder (from 402 to 397 BC) on the most exposed point of the Epipole district to defend Syracuse from Carthaginians. It was the keystone of the Syracusan fortifications until the Roman siege in 212 BC. The defence structures of “Eurialo”, which are considered some of the most complex in the ancient world, will be the backdrop of our private archaeological tour of Syracuse, which will continue inside the "Paolo Orsi" Museum to uncover the most significant finds in Syracuse and middle-eastern Sicily.
