From one piazza to the next with a gentle stroll through the magical Unesco baroque town of Scicli, you’ll meet and greet the locals and artisans who so warmly will share with you a piece of their Sicily through the history and culture of Sicilian food and wine.
Together with a special food&wine expert guide, you’ll discover the best local seasonal vegetables from the area as you will speak directly to the tradesmen about what is new this week and what you can make with these seasonal ingredients beautifully displayed in front of you.
Next to the baker, who is up early before the crack of dawn to prepare for you freshly made “scaccia” filled with local vegetables and all made with ancient grain Sicilian flour.
On your way back to a traditional “Dammuso” house, where you’ll make fresh Sicilian pasta for lunch, you’ll pass a “Chiosco” to take a strong short coffee or a refreshing Seltz to replenish and hang out like the locals do.
A Sicilian lunch without dessert is not Sicily at all, and it is a must to pass the local pastry shop to take a selection of mini sweets & pastries to finish our meal, especially the infamous “Testa di Turco'' a Scicli delicacy.
One more stop before lunch is at a wine shop, where you will be introduced by the owner to the story of Sicilian natural wine and its young winemakers. Here, you’ll also get a bottle of wine for your special lunch.
By the end of your private food tour, you’ll discover that your guide is also a talented chef, who will show you a part of Sicilian history through the people behind our heritage, the ingredients, the food & the wine. Together you will also share a lunch prepared by herself filled with moments, memories & nostalgia of her Grandparents who passed down to her recipes and traditional dishes for you all to enjoy for many more years to come, because food transports you to a place, to a memory and for this every empty plate tells a story and is a part of history.
